The October 2020 release includes several enhancements as well as some major new features. Kindly take note that our terms of service have also been updated to align with the changes outlined below. These changes come into effect on 8 November 2020.

Exporting media

It's now possible to bulk export captured media with a single click. From the "Export" tab, simply choose the "Media" export option and you'll receive a link to download a .zip file containing all the media resources (audio, images, videos and signatures) contained within the submissions that match your filter (if you have applied one).

Keep your team in the loop with in-app notifications

The upgraded "Notifications" module in the Mobenzi Gateway app will now start including automated notifications when critical events occur such as when the fieldworker is assigned to a new form, a new version of an assigned form is published, or a form previously assigned is closed or unassigned.

If you are subscribed to the Standard plan (or above), you can also send your own messages to individual fieldworkers or all the fieldworkers assigned to a specific form - great for sending out instructions, reminders and other types of information to your field team.

Embedded form field type

Using the new "Embedded Form" field type, you can now include an entire form (the embedded form) inside another form (the parent form). What's more, you can pass values between the embedded and parent form to drive logic and validation.

For example, your project might have a common consent/eligibility form that is a pre-requisite for other forms. Instead of duplicating the consent/eligibility questions in each form, you can now "embed" the complete consent/eligibility form inside any other form in the project. You could pass the respondent's name (and any other information) to the consent/eligibility form, capture their consent, determine eligibility and return the result to the parent form indicating whether or not they have consented and are eligible to continue.

Key advantages of using Embedded forms are that forms can be modularised and re-used and maintained centrally. Datasets are also kept separate allowing for more granular access control and simplified reporting. You're able to specify which fields from the embedded form should also be stored in the parent form.

The Embedded form field type is available on the Premium plan (or above).

Custom widget field type

The new "Custom Widget" field type enables you to include your own HTML content inside a form. Your widget can interact with the form, display a custom interface, run JavaScript code and interact with third-party web services (if connectivity is available).

You can choose to host your widget on your own web server or upload it to the project resource library - meaning it will work offline (provided you also upload any other resources that the widget uses).

We've developed a few example widgets to inspire you - but the potential is limitless! The Custom widget field type is available on the Premium plan (or above).
