When capturing data using Mobenzi web forms, it could be quite handy to pin the web form to the home screen of your smartphone/ tablet for quick and easy access.

Hint: Access to web forms can be restricted to assigned and authenticated fieldworkers only. If enabled, this will require a unique access code to be entered when opening the web form. Steps to restrict access is covered in more detail in our web collection settings article.

To pin a web form to your Android or iPhone/iPad's home screen, simply follow the steps below:

Chrome for Android

  1. Open the web form on your Android handset using the Chrome web browser.
  2. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the screen to open a drop down list of actions.
  3. Select 'Add to home screen' from the list.
  4. You'll be prompted to enter a name for the shortcut (we'd recommend a short, descriptive name or keep the name as is) and tap 'Add'.
  5. A new icon will be added to the home screen of your device

Similar to other apps/widgets you can move the new icon to place it where you prefer. Tapping on the icon will launch the web form in your Chrome web browser.

Firefox for Android

  1. Open the web form on your Android handset using the Firefox web browser.
  2. Tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the screen to open a drop down list of actions. Note that this three-dot menu might be at the bottom of the screen on some tablets.
  3. Select 'Page' from the list of options.
  4. Tap on 'Add page shortcut'. This will open a new pop-up menu.
  5. Tap 'Add to Home Screen'.
  6. Select 'Add Automatically' in the bottom right corner.
  7. A new icon will be added to the home screen of your Android device.

Similar to other apps/widgets you can move the new icon to place it where you prefer. Tapping on the icon will launch the web form in your Firefox web browser.

Safari web browser for iOS

  1. Open the web form in the Safari web browser on your iPhone/iPad. Other browsers like Chrome for iOS, don't support this feature, so be sure to open Safari when using an iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on the 'Share' button (a square icon with an arrow pointing up) in the browser's toolbar. This icon can be found at the top of the screen on an iPad and at the bottom of the screen on an iPhone.
  3. Select 'Add to Home Screen'.
  4. You'll be prompted to enter a name for the form (we'd recommend a short, descriptive name or keep the name as is) and tap 'Add'.
  5. A new icon will be added to the home screen of your device.

Once the shortcut has been pinned to your home screen, it can be moved around similarly to the other app icons on your home screen. Tapping on the icon will launch the web form in your web browser.
