The Mobenzi Android mobile app supports offline data collection. Once connected (via wifi or mobile data) submissions will upload automatically in the background. In the top-left corner of your handset screen, there will always be a Mobenzi Gateway icon (G). This icon will change colour from time to time to indicate the sync status of your handset.
View your sync status
To view a summary of your sync status, open the "Help" module and select "Checking connectivity/airtime balance".
Tap on the "Check my sync status" option to open the Sync Status page.
'Pending uploads' refer to submissions that have been completed on a handset but have not uploaded to the server yet and are not visible on the web console. These submissions are stored on the handset and should upload once the handset's connectivity has been restored.
Pending uploads do not prevent data collectors from capturing of data.
Note: Do not uninstall the app or clear the data of the app unless instructed to do so by a Mobenzi agent. This may remove any submissions that are stored on the handset.
What each colour indicates
1. Offline with pending sync data
If the G is red, it means that your handset is currently offline and you have pending uploads/downloads.
Your handset could be offline for any one of the following reasons:
- There is no data/airtime on the handset
- The handset is not connected to WiFi
- Flight mode has been enabled on the handset
- Mobile data has been turned off on the handset
- You are in an area with little to no connectivity
2. Offline with no pending sync data
If the G is yellow, it means that your handset is currently offline, but you do not have any pending uploads/downloads.
3. Online with pending sync data
If the G is white, it means that your handset is online and syncing with the Mobenzi server.
4. Online with no pending sync data
If the G blinks between white and green, it means that your handset is online and up to date. There would be no pending uploads/downloads now.
